While I found it entertaining...Homage or laziness?? While I found it entertaining, I felt that some of the beats (and even dialogue) was too close to the New Hope. Don't get me wrong, it makes the three aberrations that were parts 1-3 of the series look like what they are = unfortunate detours. My chief complaint is the reliance on tropes (Catina band much?), but I also wasn't taken with the guy playing wannabe Vader. I felt that his performance came across rather wimpy and anything but menacing, though there were phantoms from time to time. On the other hand I love the subversion of tropes in the form of the protagonists! Particularly in the form of a bad-ass female character. Overall, although I didn't love it, I did like this movie a lot in places. I'm usually a sucker for nostalgia, but this was too much of a carbon-copy to be immersive for me. I did appreciate the courtesy Abrams paid to Fischer by using soft-focus and that gauzy look in her shots.
